Could a mouth piece that moves the lower jaw forward help me?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I saw an add on tv the other day for a mouth piece designed to help people to stop snoring by holding the lower jaw slightly forward. I don’t snore, but …when I was a kid my orthodontist told me that I needed to have my lower jaw broken and reset because it is too far back or something? Well my family couldn’t afford that so I never had it done. It doesn’t really bother me now, except for that I sometimes have trouble breathing well at night unless I hold my lower jaw forward. But then once I fall asleep my jaw goes back to its normal position and I can’t breath well again. Do you think that anti snoring mouthpiece could help me breath better at night if it will keep my jaw forward all night? And does anyone know what they are called (I live in the US, so please tell me a brand I can get here), because I forgot from the commercial!

Can anyone give suggestions on my snoring problem?

Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

My fiance cannot stand sleeping in the same room with me. Apparently I snore very loudly. We are getting married very soon, so this is a big problem. We will be married and I want to sleep in the same room as her…

What we have tried:
Breathe Right strips- work a LITTLE bit, but fall off in the night. No Go!
Also have a sleep study scheduled with the doctor to see if I have sleep apnea.

What can we do?!
I don’t think I have sleep apnea, because I can sleep for 8 hours and feel rested. I am somewhat overweight, but I have lost 60 lbs and plan to lose more. The weight loss has not changed it.

I DID get my nose broken in the 7th grade and I do have a deviated septum ( I think the nose is the problem), but the damn doctor will not refer me to the ENT until after the sleep study…. and my insurance runs out 15 days after the sleep study.. OY!

What can I do about my snoring problem?

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

I have already been to the doctor for this and he prescribed a C-pap machine. It really doesn’t do me any good, it’s uncomfortable, and I didn’t notice any change in my energy level. He said there is only 1 other option, which is surgery, but he couldn’t be sure it would do any good. Some nights are worse than others, and I’m not the loudest or worst snorer, and I’ve been told that I stop breathing many times during the night. I am only slightly overweight, about 30 pounds, so I don’t think losing weight will help much. Is there any kind of herbal remedy, exercises, or anything else I can do to help with my snoring problem?

is there a way to stop yourself from snoring?

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

something that doesn’t involve surgery, or one of those nasal strips. i don’t want a solution that isn’t so noticable when you go to sleep.

What do about my boyfriend snoring?

Sunday, February 15th, 2009

My boyfriend is only 20 and his snoring is awful most nights. It keeps me awake and is frustrating. I know their are surgeries out there to fix it, and some say exercise helps. The nose strips and sprays do not work because it is coming from his throat, not his nose. He believes he has sleep apnea, but we do not have the money to test for this. Anyone else experience this and can reccomend a solution thayt worked for them?
Sometimes not sleeping on his back works, but when it is really bad snoring, sleeping on his sides does not help at all still.
Sorry, one more thing. I have considred ear plugs, but I have to hear the alarm to get up. An alarm rarely wakes him up, I have to wake him up usually.

Any suggestions to stop my husband from snoring?

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

It does not matter if he is on his back or his side. I also snore but men sleep more soundly so therefor he can sleep right through it. I ask him to move his position but as soon as he does he falls fast asleep and the snoring starts again. Most nights I find myself going in my kids’ bed or the couch. Help!
